There are over 100 different types of cannabinoids to date that are being proven to have therapeutic benefits for humans and pets.
Here are the most common cannabinoid abbreviations and what they mean:
CBC: Cannabichromene Helpful with nausea, reducing symptoms that lead to vomiting and is both an anti-inflammatory and non- psychoactive.
Most people have heard this term and have varied experiences. In theory, the cannabinoid CBD is best for nausea, inflammation, anxiety and depression with neither non-intoxicating or psychotropic effects. Studies have also shown promising effects of CBD to encourage cell metabolism and it's being studied as a cancer inhibitor.
CBD-A: Cannabidiol Acid
There is no intoxication; this is effectively being used for relieving the fatigue from arthritis, Crohn's disease as well as chemotherapy. The cannabinoid is also considered antibacterial and has shown positive effects with anti-inflammation and receding tumor growth.
This cannabinoid is known for aiding the receptors that prevent epileptic and convulsive behavior with no intoxication. It is currently being studied for pediatric epilepsy!
This is shown to be useful for IBD (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and inflammation. In addition to being recognized as an antibacterial, it is shown to also block cancer cell receptors and is considered a vasodilator.
The compound has a mild psychoactive response, slightly more so than CBD but much less than THC and tends to stimulate one's appetite. CBN is a non-intoxicating compound that is best known as the cannabinoid created when THC ages. For that reason, it’s usually present in high amounts in older cannabis. Studies on CBN have found that it may be a potent antibacterial agent. In lab settings, CBN was tested on strains of MRSA bacteria that are resistant to traditional antibiotics. Researchers found it to be a potent antibacterial agent against these resistant strains; it is also being tested as a neuroprotectant.
D8-THC: Delta 8 Tetrahydrocannabinol
This does have intoxicating effects with an analgesic. It also is attributed to appetite stimulation and is a neuro-protectant.
D9-THC: Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannabinol
As one of the better known cannabinoids in the plant, it has been shown to be effective in relieving glaucoma, depression and reducing nausea. Some patients have reported to its effectiveness with sleep apnea.
Known for being an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and also being shown to inhibit different types of cancer growth. It is not intoxicating, non-psychoactive and effective with promoting nervous system and brain function as a neuro-protectant.
THC-V: Tetrahydrocannabivarin Currently being studied for its ability to promote bone growth and found to have some psychotropic effects and can be an used as an appetite suppressant.
